Project Longarm
Over 20 thousand dollars worth of Marijuana and 18 firearms were recovered in the Quinte area yesterday as two search warrants were executed at the same time.
One of the seizures was on Foxton Road in Thur-low Township and the other at a residence on Airport Parkway in Belleville.
A stolen ATV and a loaded 9mm handgun were included in the seizure.
A 63 year old man was arrested at Airport Parkway and charged with Unsafe Storage of a Firearm and .... unauthorized possession of a firearm.
He was released and is to appear in court on October 30.
Agressive Driving Results.
The Aggressive Driving Campaign in the Belleville area was in full swing yesterday.
Police handed out .... A total of 88 tickets to drivers.
Police concentrated on Community Safety Zones and a number of intersections.
The campaign is running throughout the Hastings and Prince Edward County until October 9th and will run in Picton today.
Search-Missing-Boater
The body of a missing 76-year-old man from Pennsylvania has been recovered from a lake in eastern Ontario near the town of Arden.
Provincial police divers recovered the body from Mink Lake almost 24 hours after the unidentified man was reported missing.
He was fishing with friends when his boat capsized.
A 74-year-old man who also fell into the water was later found on shore, where he had managed to start a fire.
Police say the deceased was not wearing a life-jacket.
A post mortem will be conducted today.
RWT-Quinte West Gas Leak
Quinte West Fire officials evacuated a Trenton shopping plaza late yesterday afternoon ..... following a natural gas leak .
Union Gas was called in ... and located the leak at 257 Dundas Street East.
There was no damage and no injuries.
Support Staff Strike Numbers
The votes are in .... and the Support Staff at 24 Ontario Community Colleges have voted .... in favour to stay on the job.
67-percent of the staff voted in favour of the new tentative contract agreement.
The deal includes a raise of .... nearly four percent in the first year .... and three per cent in each of the next two years.
124 Loyalist Support Staff voted.... with 83-percent in favour of the new contract.
College support staff include custodians, registrars, library and information technicians.
