School board digs into reserves due to crushing fuel prices

The Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board has had to use reserve funds to balance this year’s budget because of an increase of fuel prices.

The school board met June 16 to discuss the budget. To allow existing programs and services offered by the school to continue unaffected, the board had to use just over $600,000 reserve funds to balance the budget.

Project Longarm

Over 20 thousand dollars worth of Marijuana and 18 firearms were recovered in the Quinte area yesterday as two search warrants were executed at the same time.

One of the seizures was on Foxton Road in Thur-low Township and the other at a residence on Airport Parkway in Belleville.

Marijuana in Vehicle

A man is scheduled for a bail hearing today after being found with a weapon and marijuana at a traffic stop in Quinte West.

Last night Quinte West O-P-P found that a man in an S-U-V on Trenton-Frankford Road had a strong odor of marijuana on him.

It was a busy day in Picton Provincial Court as another man faced murder charges in the death of Kevin Munroe. 91x Reporter Jay Simmons has more.

Daniel Thompson will also face the lesser charge of impaired driving when he returns to court on October 8th.

Man Charged

A second man has now been charged in connection with the murder of Kevin Munroe of Picton.

That fact was revealed today at a hearing for Daniel Thompson, the man initially charged with the slaying.

At around 10:30pm Saturday an office on routine patrol observed the erratic driver in the Donald and North Front street area.

DRUG BUST

O.P.P. has made another drug bust with Project Round Up.

Yesterday, police and a K-9 unit searched an apartment on Manitou Crescent in Amberstview.

Officers seized 125 grams of marijuana, seven marijuana plants, digital scales and indoor growing equipment from the apartment.

Police are asking for the public's help is locating a missing girl.

Fifteen year old Laura Jenner did not return home after going to the Picton Fair on Friday night.

The fifteen year old is described as being 5'9, approximetly one-hundred and 11 pounds, long blonde hair, blue eyes and a fair complexion.

A debit card scam is taking Belleville by storm...

Between July 2nd and 7th.. 26 people complained to city police about transaction frauds.

The investigation has revealed an illegal PIN Pad was being used to record debit information in the city from April to June.
